Mangalore, June 10, 2012: The legislative council polls for the South-west Teachers’ and Graduates’ Constituency has come to an end.

According to statistics released by the Information Department, the poll percentage was 57.48 percent and 53.4 percent, respectively, for the South-west Teachers and South-west Graduates Constituencies.

 

CM Voting

 

Only 6,322 of the total 11,859 voters in the South-west Graduates Constituency exercised their voting rights while only 2,817 of the total 4,902 voters cast their votes in the South-west Teachers Constituency.

CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda cast his vote in the Puttur polling booth. Addressing reporters on the occasion, he said that he has travelled all over the state  and found that people were eager to exercise their rights. Expressing confidence that the BJP will win, he said that the BJP-led state government has done a lot for teachers and has given top priority to the development of the education sector. Mr. Gowda stated that Rs. 15,000 crore has been earmarked for education in the state budget.
