Mangaluru, Dec 20, 2014 : We can have a better society when we incorporate the ideals and messages advocated by Jesus Christ in our lives, said city Mayor Mahabala Maarla.
He was speaking at a Christmas get-together organised by Catholic Sabha Mangaluru in association with various other organisations at Bishop’s House on December 19, Friday.
The Mayor also stressed the need for peace and communal harmony and added peace is a must for the progress of the society.
Rev. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese who presided over the meet said each and everyone of us in society should consider service to the poor as our duty. Service to the poor is equal to service of God, the Bishop said and also emphasised on the care and share philosophy.
He also spoke about the welfare initiatives of Mangalore Diocese and informed that during the last two years the Diocese has constructed 160 houses for the poor, while 24 more are currently being built.
MP Noronha, advocate, Msgr Denis Prabhu, Vicar General, Flavy D’Souza, Catholic Sabha President and others were present.
