Speaking about the early phases of her career, she said she had never tried to challenge the monopoly of the Mangeshkar singers as people said; instead, she had learned singing after listening to them. Admitting that she had never had any formal training in classical music in spite of trying several times, she said that she learned from several sources. Ultimately, she just practiced for several hours after listening to Lataji. Anuradha Paudwal said that Lata Mangeshkar was her guru and that she was totally hypnotized by her voice.

She admitted to media people that she never had a good singing voice right from childhood, but learned some valuable lessons at a local music school into which her mother had admitted her.

Anuradha Paudwal also said that she belongs to the old school of music, which was very strict. Every studio in Mumbai had an auto tuner; and she was nervous to forget the lines in between the songs. She said that some of the numbers she sang for movies such as “Hero,” “Karma,” “Meri Jung,” “Dil Hai Ki Mantha Nahin,” and “Aashiqui” made her very famous.

She said that she found it very difficult to enter the film industry initially although she tried to contact many influential people. Finally, she created her first devotional album, “Durga Sapthah Sahkti” in Marathi by T-Series, which gave her the much-needed break and the opportunity to sing in “Abhiman.”

She said that getting into the film industry was very difficult in the past; but now, television reality shows have made it very easy for singers. Thousands of them are given a chance to display their talents. All of them do not get a chance in the films; but the winners definitely do. Performance is now more important than singing, she said.

She lauded Mr. Eric Ozerio for providing an opportunity for several singers and for organizing events. She concluded by saying that it is nice to be with the fraternity.

Mr. Eric Ozerio and Lancy were present during the press conference.
