A number of devotees participated in the Shobha Yatra, and one of them commented that this procession is second only to the Dasara procession of Gokarnanatha Temple, Kudroli.

Vehicles were prevented to enter the State Bank Circle so that people could participate in the procession easily.

The procession commenced at 8:00 p.m. and was accompanied by tableaux illustrating mythological episodes and dance sequences from popular movies. It moved through Hampankatta Circle and K. S. Rao Road. The Ganesha idol was worshipped at several places during the procession, which finally came to an end at Mahamaya Temple on Car Street.

Fortunately for the devotees, the rains stayed away.

The Ganesha idol was installed on Nehru Maidan by the Hindu Yuvasene. The Mangalore city police had made all the arrangements to maintain peace and order during the celebrations.
