On  July 14, Ajith Kumar Hegde handed over the charge to Joint Commissioner Gokuldas Nayak, as he was moving to Hyderabad for a 15 days training.  The  Kodagu Additional Deputy Commissioner Prasanna H took charge on July 16, and it was stated orders had been issued so, however he proceeded  on leave on the same day. “A team of corporators met the new commissioner in his chamber the same evening after he  took charge, but he was not available. It is learnt that he is on leave till July 26 and is in Bangalore,” Premananda Shetty said.  Expressing concern over development works taking a back seat in the absence of the commissioner. MCC Joint Commissioner sid he was in-charge only for  the  two days till the new commissioner took charge and he can not take administrative decisions. When monsoon  is at peak, causing many serious problems in the city  the MCC needs  the commissioner to take important decisions and tackle problems on the spot.

The opposition leader also blamed Mayor Mahabala Marla for showing an indifferent attitude to the issue. “The Mayor along with a group of Congress corporators are going on as if they are the administrators. Meetings are chaired by Mayor in the absence of senior officials from the MCC,” he said and demanded the Congress to end the stalemate  and the government to clarify the matter.
