Mangaluru, June 25: A rare book of an 888 year old love story of Mangalore- ‘L’ affaire Ashu and Yiju’ will be released on June 26, 2018, 4 pm at a special function at St. Aloysius College, Light house Hill, Mangaluru. Mangaluru City Mayor, Mr. Bhaskar Moily will release the Book.

It is indeed a rare occasion of unveiling pages of a nostalgic history of Mangalore.

History is replete with celebrated love affairs between kings and courtesans, slaves and royalty, rich and poor, young and old, battles were fought for love; kingdoms were renounced for love and crimes committed for love.

L’ affaire Ashu and Yiju is a real-life story of an Tunisian sailor and merchandiser falling in love and marrying a slave woman in 1130 AD in the coastal town of Mangalore. Their nostalgic love story is worth all the admiration and to be cherished.
