Mangaluru: August 31, 2015: A 25 year old girl from Mudoor in Kundapur went missin after she was allegedly assaulted by her neighbour, who trashed her and tore her clothes. The girl returned home the next day and shockingly, she denied any kind of assault by her neighbour.
Vasanthi Naik was assaulted by Anil Basirberu (40) who works as a driver in Mudoor.
According to the sources Vasanthi was working at home when Anil phoned her and asked her to meet him at the spot behind the house. Arguments broke out between both over some issues which led to fight. Anil allegedly assaulted her and also girl’s elder sister an even tore their clothes.
When the Vasnthi’s mother noticed them fighting also joined and abused Anil. It is learnt that Anil threatened the family members with dire consequences.
Vasanthl’s mother asked her to get inside the house, she told she will back in a flash. However, the girl did not return home and went missing.
Afraid over not returning home, the frightened family members then registered a complaint at the Kollur police station with the help of locals. The family members and locals began searching at the nearby forest.
The news spread like wildfire that even Gram Panchayat member joined the search but could not find the girl.
The family members lost hope of her returning home. But at 3.30 pm in the afternoon the girl was back, and with her was Anil’s wife.
The police questioned her and were shocked to hear from her that Anil had not assaulted her and there was no quarrel between them.
The locals and Gram panchayat members were shocked listening to her words and were left clueless. It is learnt that Anil was involved in many assault case before and the locals demanded police to arrest him.
The locals said that the girl is lying because of threats from Anil and said that truth will come out soon after medical tests.
The family members and locals threatened to protest if no action is taken against Anil.
The police took the girl to the police station for investigation and the police said that action will be taken against accused on basis of her statement
