Kundapur girl stabbed to death in Bangalore

Kundapur, May 29, 2012 : An unidentified person stabbed a 21-year-old Kundapur girl who was walking home from work in BTM Layout, Bangalore on the evening of May 28, Monday.

 

The victim S. Divya, daughter of Shantha of Kundapur, was an office assistant in a shoe company in Bangalore.

Shortly after she got off the bus at around 6:15 p.m., the miscreant attacked her and slashed her neck with a sharp knife. When she collapsed, the miscreant fled from the scene.

Someone called the police, who rushed her to a private hospital in Bangalore, where she was declared dead.

Pradeep, one of Divya’s relatives, suspects a person called Ranjith. Divya and Ranjith had been in a relationship for the past 4 years, but the relationship had turned sour of late. Divya broke up with Ranjith when she learned that he was not a steady character and refused to relent even when he told her that he would mend his ways.

After her breakup with Ranjith, she got engaged to Pradeep, who works in a private firm. They were to get married next year. Pradeep knew everything about Divya’s broken relationship with Ranjith, but had decided to accept her.

Divya’s father P. Shyam would drop her to work at Tavarakere Main Road daily. She would return home by bus and get off at BTM Layout, where her father would be waiting to take her home to N. S. Palya.

On the evening of Monday, however, P. Shyam was a bit late. When she called him, he told her to walk home as he was a bit busy in Basavanagudi

According to eyewitnesses, two young men followed Divya on a bike as soon as she got off the bus and began walking home. One of them got off the bike and began following her. He then stabbed her and escaped on the bike with his friend. 

According to Pradeep, Ranjith had still not accepted that their relationship was over. He had even called Pradeep and wanted to know about his relationship with Divya.

The police have now launched a manhunt for Ranjith.
