Kundapur, Nov 8, 2016: A leopard which had fallen into a government well at Kavrady near Kandloor on November 5, Saturday night and was stuck inside a small ring in the well, has been finally rescued on November 8, Tuesday morning. It was only after persistent efforts of the forest officials and villagers that the animal could be rescued.
The forest personnel had lowered the branches of a tree nearby so that the poor leopard could climb on it on Sunday itself. But the animal refused to climb up the branches. Finally, on Tuesday morning the fire service personnel arrived at the spot after which a cage was lowered into the well. The leopard which initially did not enter the cage, later entered it as soon as the cage was lowered into the water. Diver Manjunath Naik’s services were used to immediately close the door of the cage.
The leopard has been shifted to a sanctuary by the forest officials.
