Kulshekar parish donates Rs. 1.5 lakh for jubilee activities

Mangalore, July 7, 2011: Rev. Fr. Valerian Pinto, the parish priest and the finance committee members of Holy Cross Church in Kulshekar, presented a check for Rs. 1 lakh to Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza as donation for various programmes planned as part of the post centenary silver jubilee of Mangalore Diocese.

Accepting the check, the bishop thanked the members of Kulshekar parish for their generosity and said that the jubilee programme will commence with the help of this donation. The parish priest also donated Rs. 50,000 to the souvenir fund of the jubilee celebrations to Retired Rev. Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu, the convener of the jubilee souvenir.

During the Lenten season of 2011, the members of Kulshekar parish contributed their Lenten offerings, a total of Rs. 3 lakh to the Seminary Burse to be spent for the benefit of three seminarians. This amount was presented to Dr. Joseph Martis, the rector of St. Joseph’s seminary.

Accepting the offering, Fr. Martis thanked the members of the finance committee and the members of the Kulshekar parish for their generosity.

Fr. John Moras and Fr. Melwyn Noronha, the assistant parish priests; Mr. Sushil Noronha, the secretary of the Jubilee Committee; Praveen Patrao, the vice president; and Mr. Victor Vas, Edward Monteiro, Lancy Rego, Michael D’Souza, Rajesh D’Souza, and Stany D’Souza, the members of the committee, were also present.
