Kulshekar Parish celebrates Catechism Day

Mangalore, Feb 20: The Kulshekar Holy Cross Church parish celebrated its Catechism Day on Feb 19, Saturday.

The celebrations commenced with the Holy Mass at 4:30 p.m., followed by a colorful cultural programme based on the theme of the values and messages of Christ.

The chief guest was advocate M. P. Noronha, and Rev. Fr. Valerian Pinto, the parish priest, presided. The guests of honor were Rev. Fr. Arun Lobo, the assistant parish priest; Rev. Fr. John Moras; Mr. Praveen Patrao, the vice president of the parish council; Rev. Sr. Liza, the superior of Bethany Convent; Mr. George D’Souza, the secretary of the parish council; Rev. Sr. Cecilia Mendonca, the headmistress of Sacred Hearts Girls’ High School; and Mrs. Lynette, the catechism programme coordinator.

In his inaugural address, advocate M. P. Noronha spoke of the importance of living the values of Christ and building up strong Christian faith.

Wishing the students all the best, Fr. Valerian congratulated the parents for raising their children on a foundation of Christian values.

The students received tokens of appreciation for 100 percent attendance, maintaining their workbooks well, and for scoring high in catechism examinations.

Around 600 people were present for the event.
