Koragas organize jatha to celebrate Bhoomi Habba

Mangalore, Aug 18: The Union for Koraga Development Association organized a jatha as part of its “Koraga Bhoomi Habba” celebrations on Aug 18, Wednesday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash inaugurated the event in front of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) building by beating the drum. The members of the Koraga community presented a dance performance on the occasion. In his inaugural speech, Dr. Vijayaprakash said that the Koragas were the original inhabitants of the undivided DK district. He assured the community that he will convene a meeting of the community leaders the following week to discuss the release of funds for the development of the community and organize new schemes.

The jatha ended at Kodical, where the convention was organized. Honorary President of the Union for Koraga Development Association inaugurated the convention at Kodical. Mrs. Appi of Kodical distributed sweets to all the members of the community on the occasion.

President Susheela Nada and former Union President Balaraj addressed the gathering. An entertainment programme marked the end of the event.
