Mangaluru, Dec 04, 2018: The Valedictory ceremony of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS), Mangaluru was marked on December 2, Sunday, at Don Bosco Hall, Mangaluru.
Rev Joseph Dolpy Pais, Provincial of Capuchin Congregation presided over the programme. James Mendonca, NRI Enterpreneur and philanthropist graced the event as chief guest. President of Sabha Rev Paul Melwin D’Souza, Vice President Sunil Menezes, General
Secretary Judy D’Souza, Joint Secretary Jossy Theodore and Treasurer Jerry Concessao were on the Dias.
After a memorial floral tributes to founders of KNS Fr Philip Neri, Cap. and Fr George Albuquerque Pai, SJ. The gathering was addressed by James Mendonca; he applauded the continued support by Konkani Natak sabha to performance of Drama, singing, dance and other verities. The talents always need a platform to budding one’s by selfless organizer. In Mangalore KNS has contributed just that to the Konkani ethos. He congratulated the current office bearers and members of KNS.
Rev Joseph Dolphy Pais in his presidential speech said “inspirations may be many. But inspiration which a priest of Aloysius College passed onfrom 1943 to date through Capuchin Friars so that this Konkani Natak Sabha will live ages’s in its marvelous never ending work. Everyone who we see a Konkani artist of Mangalore and around will praise Don Bosco Hall for its unique artist friendly feature and comfort of performance on stage because of the perfection of its facilities” he praised. He also congratulated the KNS on the occasion of celebrating Platinum Jubilee - 75 years - 1943 to 2018.
Senior Artists Peter Furtado, Albert Peris and Claude D’Souza were felicitated by KNS with Norbert Corda Kala Award, James Mendonca Kala Award and Austin D’souza Prabhu Kala Award respectively. Daisy D’Souza, Jerry Concessao and Prem Lobo read over the citations
The Former Presidents Fr Rupert Barboza, Fr Joackim D’Souza, Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza and Present President Fr Paul Melwin D’Souza were honoured. The Former vice Presidents and present president were also honoured.
President Fr Paul Melwyn D’souza welcomed the gathering. General Secretary Judy D’souza read over the report. Vice President Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks and CGS, Tacode (Valencia) compered.
After the stage programme, “Aunkar Mestri” a Konkani drama was staged by members of “Asthitwa ®, Mangaluru. The Drama is written by late Chafra D’costa and directed by Denis Monteiro. Indeed it was a memorable jubilee celebration to last till the century.
