Konkani Kutam Literary Award for Fr Prashanth Madtha

Mangaluru, Jul 06, 2018 : The 17th Konkani Kutam Literary Award will be presented to writer Fr Prashanth Madtha. Konkani Kutam Local Convener Richard Moras said that the award will be conferred at St Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Hall, Bendoor, Mangaluru, on July 28 at 6.30 p.m.

Kannada writer Jayant Kaikini will be the chief guest. Kendra Sahitya Akademi award winning Konkani poet Melwin Rodrigues will be the guest of honour. The award, instituted by Konkani Kutam, Bahrain, will carry a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a memento.

Fr Prashanth Madtha belongs to Sullia of Dakshina Kannada district. He has served as a professor in Kannada, at St Aloysius College.

Currently, he is the administrative officer of St Joseph’s College of Commerce, in Bengaluru.

He has brought out thesaurus in Kannada and Konkani languages and holds the credit for being the first person to edit the thesaurus in two languages.

He has written columns and articles in various newspapers and periodicals. Fr Prashanth Madtha has several books in Kannada and Konkani to his credit, including the 125-year-old history of St Aloysius College, ‘An Eagle’s wings’.
