Kundapur, Jan 09, 2018: The lunch arrangements made by Kollur Shree Mookambika Temple for the thousands of people including Congress workers who had converged for the Sadhana Samavesh and the launching of Rs 490.97 crore worth projects in Byndoor by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on January 8, Monday has kicked off a row.
Several people have questioned as to why lunch arrangements were made on behalf of the shrine. These people also want to know how the leaders who had suspended the mid-day meal grants provided by the shrine to a school have now chosen to have food from the very same shrine, that too for a public function. Social media is also abuzz with discussions in this regard.
Temple officials clarify : Kollur Shrine Executive Officer Janardhan who has clarified on the issue said there has been no violation of rule and that there is scope to offer lunch on behalf of the temple as it was a government programme. The Tahsildar had earlier made a written appeal and as per the decision taken at the Temple Committee the lunch was arranged, he said. He further said that foreseeing a dispute following the cancellation of temple grants for the school, the Committee Chairman had himself provided a cheque for Rs 1 lakh towards lunch arrangement for the function.
The Temple Committee Chairman Harish Kumar Shetty also confirmed that he had provided a cheque for Rs 1 lakh as expenses towards lunch.
