Burning issues such as tax exemption, drinking water crisis, issue of trade licenses, and others were discussed during this meeting.

Mr. Kodgi said that the MCC was supplying water without properly monitoring the supply. Since many houses receiving water from the MCC had no meters, they used a lot of water to water their farms while the rest of the village did not receive drinking water. He also reprimanded the civic body for supplying more water to the rich and less to the poor and urged it to install meters to regulate water supply at the earliest possible.

Clarifying issues related to tax, he said that property belonging to mosques, temples, and churches need not pay taxes, but commercial establishments and marriage halls will have  to pay tax. While private community halls and educational institutions that provide facilities free of charge are tax exempt, all other service providers are required to pay taxes regularly, he added.

When Corporator Rajendra Kumar suggested that trade licenses must be issued to applicants within 7 days, Kodgi said that MCC officers must not permit traders to start business till they receive their trade license. He warned that the officers concerned will be held responsible for traders running businesses without proper license.

A number of issues such as the bus stand in Pumpwell, markets, underground drainage systems, playgrounds, and others were discussed at the meeting.

MCC officers, corporators, and GP members were also present at this meeting.
