Kodagu flood relief: Muzrai Dept seeks contributions from temples

Bengaluru, Aug 22, 2018 : The State government has ordered the temples under the Muzrai Department to contribute temple donations to fund the ongoing flood rescue and relief operations in the state.

The Muzrai Department in Karnataka has asked the temples to transfer Rs 12.3 crores from 81 temples under its control for the purpose. Kukke Subramanya Temple has been asked to contribute amount of Rs 3 Crore, Kollur Mookambika Temple and Chamundeshwary Temple in Mysuru have been asked to pay Rs 1 crore each. Kateel Durgaparameshwari Temple has been asked to deposit Rs 75 lakhs. The funds will be used for the flood victims of Kodagu and parts of coastal Karnataka.

Executive officers of the temples have been asked to transfer the sum indicated against each temple to an account managed by the department. The officers have also been asked to set up counters on the temple premises to collect donations.
