Kerala, Jun 22, 2018 : Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) workers led by MLA NA Nellikkunnu today protested by pulling the chain of Antyodaya Express from Kochuveli to Mangaluru Junction. The incident took place at 8.03 am as the train was about to cross the Kasaragod railway station. Following this, the train came to a halt 100 meters away from the station.

Over 150 IUML workers who had gathered at the Kasaragod railway station marched towards the train and sat on the track demanding a permanent stop for the train at Kasaragod station. The train resumed its service after a delay of 19 minutes.

The Railway Protection Force has registered a case against Nellikkunnu and IUML workers for unnecessarily pulling the chain and disrupting the normal operations of the train.

The newly started weekly service connecting the 2 ends of the state has already raked up public outrage over the fewer number of stops.

Earlier BJP MP V Muraleedharan had written to railway minister Piyush Goyal to request for stops for the train at Kasaragod and Alappuzha stations.
