Haridwar, August 5, 2015: In a rare gesture of open adulation, Srimad Sudhindra Thirtha Swami, the Matadhipathi of Shree Kashi Math Samsthan expressed his appreciation for the Tribute Article on legendary parliamentarian Ullal Srinivas Mallya, which was published by Mangalore Today as its Cover Story for the July issue.
Ullal Srinivas Mallya was a freedom fighter and a stalwart who is considered to the ‘Architect of Dakshina Kannada District’ on account of his visionary contributions to the development of this region in the post independence era as the first MP of this constituency.
This year marks the completion of 50 years after the death of Ullal Srinivas Mallya and hence Mangalore Today had brought out a commemorative issue on him.
Srimad Sudhindra Thirtha Swami, on receiving a copy of the magazine, is said to have read the article with deep interest and expressed his happiness over the fact of remembering the stalwart. The swamiji recalled his association with Ullal Srinivas Mallya, who was a staunch devotee of the swamiji and observed that Mallya was an incomparable personality who left an indelible mark in public life.
“I have known Ullal Srinivas Mallya and his entire family. He was a visionary leader and a pride of the community. He was a selfless man who genuinely strived for improving the lives of the people. He not only contributed to the nation and the society at large but also brought glory to our community,” the swamiji is understood to have said, “He is a role model for our people and our youth have a lot to learn from his dedication and selfless service. I am happy that a timely effort has been made to remember U. S. Mallya and his achievements.”
