Kasargod, June 7 , 2015: A tense situation prevailed at Mangad here on June 6,Saturday morning after some miscreants placed the head of a dead buffalo near a temple. In fact, the incident took place just as the cops who were on security duty had left the place for a tea break. However, timely action by the police personnel averted a major communal unrest in the area.
Police had maintained strict vigil in and around places of worship in Mangad following information of plans being made by a few to disturb communal peace in the backdrop of the recent clash between Congress and CPI(M) activists that left a few injured.
The police had also received a tip off that miscreants were trying to create communal unrest and would also attempt conversion.
Following the incident, senior officials including Dr A Srinivas, Police Commissioner, PS Mohammad Sageer, Deputy Commissioner, Kunhiraman, MLA of Uduma, K Srikanth, District Secretary of BJP and others were present.
Following the June 2 clash, a vehicle owned by a DYFI member was also set ablaze by miscreants.
