Kasargod, Jan 24, 2020: The Kasargod Crime Branch sleuths have cracked the mystery behind the case of suspicious death of Miyapadavu Higher Secondary School teacher Roopashree (44). The colleague of the deceased, a drawing teacher Venkataramana Karanth (50) and car driver Niranjan are the two persons arrested in this case.
Roopashree who was reported missing on January 14 was found dead at Peruvadu near Kumble on January 16. Her family had alleged that this was a case of murder. Following protests seeking justice the case was handed over to the crime branch.
It has now been learnt that Roopashree and Venkataramana were having an affair and also some financial dealings. However Roopashree of late was averse to the relationship. It is said on January 14, the accused had asked her to come to his house and when she arrived he killed her by forcibly pushing her face into a water filled bucket. The body was later disposed in a car with the help of Niranjan near the Kanwatheertha beach in Manjeshwar.
Forensic investigations had found strands of hair in Venkataramana’s car. Police had later questioned him on suspicion when he confessed the crime.
