Kasargod : Man arrested for smuggling ganja through innocent passenger

Kasargod, Oct 12, 2017 : Kumble Police have arrested a person named Kodyamme Soofi (36) on the charges of smuggling ganja to the Gulf through an unknowing man who travelled to the Gulf.

arrest It is said Soofi had handed over a packet to Mohammad Basheer from Kodyamme Chatrampalla stating it contained pickles and should be given to person who would meet him in Doha airport.

Believing him Mohammad had placed the packet in his suitcase and had travelled to Doha where the authorities upon checking his baggage found 4 kg ganja in the packet and arrested him despite him pleading that he was innocent.

Subsequently his wife had lodged a complaint in this regard at Kumble following which Soofi was arrested.

The incident had taken place on June 28, 2016.

Most of the drug peddlers held at Manglore airport are from Kasargod. Why aren’t those cases strict there.
