Kasargod : Congress jatha turns violent ; DySP, cops, party workers among injured

Kasargod, Sep 09, 2020: A jatha organised by the Youth Congress workers upto the District Crime Branch office on September 9, Wednesday has turned violent resulting in injuries to seven police personnel and over ten party activists. The protest was organised to oppose the failure of the police to hand over to the CBI the case diary pertaining to the murders of Youth Congress workers Kripesh and Sharath Lal.
The protest had commenced from Vidyanagar. However, when protestors tried to remove the barricades erected by the police, the latter used water canons at the protestors and eventually they resorted to tear gas shelling when situation went out control.
It is learnt the protestors hurled stones at the police following which the cops resorted to lathi charge. Pradeep Kumar, District Congress President and DySP Balakrishnan Nair are among those injured in the incident.
