Kasargod, Feb 6,2016 : Neeleshwar Police have on February 5, Friday arrested a CPI(M) leader on the charges of attempting to burgle the house of an NRI entrepreneur.
The accused is Raghavan (53). The arrest was made by Neeleshwar Circle Inspector K E Premaraja at Valiyaparamba where Raghavan was in hiding ever since he made the theft attempt.
It is learnt on February 1, Monday night, a neighbour of the NRI entrepreneur Mohammad Younus had noticed a stranger moving around the latter’s house on the night of February 1, Monday. He had immediately informed a relative of Younus who in turn intimated the police.
However, by the time the police arrived, the accused had made good his way. But the CCTV camera installed in the house had captured the movements of the thief wearing a white dhoti and shirt with an iron rod as well as a bag in hand.
It has been gathered that during interrogations, Raghavan has admitted that he had committed several thefts and was also responsible for the theft of gold weighing 14 sovereigns from the residence of Abdulla of Trikkaripura in May last year.
Investigations are in progress.
