Karnataka government’s high point for ’Elevate 100’ takes off in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Aug 4,2017: "Elevate 100" is an innovative programme of the State Government intended to give a push to young minds in Mangaluru, which is a known educational hub. It will also help spread the startup culture to more areas and at the same time use technology innovatively to help address issues that have a larger impact. At least  30 innovative applications were received for the Programme from Mangaluru region.

Elevate `Elevate 100,’ the initiative of the Department of Information Technology and Biotechnology, aims to provide a comprehensive entrepreneurship platform for startups. The top 100 technology based startups chosen through a rigorous hunt across Karnataka State will tap into a whopping sum of Rs.400 Crore of Government funds. This is the largest pool of funds ever offered by any State Government to Startups. The action plan is `Pitch to Elevate’ is a process to identify the top 100 startups across Karnataka and provide them with Government Funds/Support. The Pitching sessions will be held at Mysuru, Kalaburagi, Mangaluru, Hubballi and Bengaluru.

"This is a great initiative by Karnataka Government to support startups in their tough entrepreneurial journey. At Elevate I saw many socially impactful ideas and from tier II cities. The entrepreneurs were well grounded and had done good quality research on the idea and customers before presenting to the jury. It was great interacting with all the startups. We could see a lot of energy in the startup ecosystem here," says Murlidhar S, Founder CEO, Lodestar Career Guidance, TiE Charter Member.


This initiative is not just to develop apps, the students-turned-startup-entrepreneurs will get an opportunity to come up with innovative solutions in health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure as these sectors will have a pan-India resonance.


Surayanarayan, Governing board member of TiE Bangalore said: "Mangaluru has a rich and vibrant student community. With reputed colleges near the city of Mangaluru, the next step would be to harness the talent available. Pitch to Elevate witnessed some very innovative pitches from Life Sciences and Bio Tech sector. We are partnering with premier institutions to nurture start-ups in Mangaluru and soon we will see a tag of start-up district attached with Mangaluru. "

ELEVATE was launched by the Karnataka government in partnership with the Deshpande Foundation, The Indus Entrepreneurs and other Industry Association Partners like ABAI, IESA, ABLE and NASSCOM to empower startups to scale operations.



A total of 1,700 startups registered for the programme.
