Karkala: Suicide attempt: 1 Dead, 2 survived

Karkala Dec 18, 2015:  Three persons of a family commit suicide by jumping into the well one dead and the other two were rescued. The incident took place in Karkala on December 18, Friday.

 

 The deceased is identified as Ganapathy Bhat, A main priest of a Temple in Karkala.  Shyamala and Rashmi were the other two who tries to end life along with him.


It is learnt that Ganapathy bhat along with the family tried to commit suicide by jumping into the well. On hearing the strange scream the locals peeped into the well, noticed them struggling for life and informed the fire service immediately. The Fire personnel rushed to the spot and lifted the bodies from the well. Unfortunately Ganapathy Bhat lost life but Shamyala and Rashmi were rescued from this incident. They are being treated at a Government Hospital in Karkala.

The reason for this extreme step is not known. The Karkala police are investigating the case.
