Karkala: Nitte host training session for National Basketball team

Karkala Aug 30, 2016: The National Basket Ball teams geared up to face Asian Cup are  getting trained at the premises of Nitte University of Karkala on Monday August 29.

School children arrived in large to the indoor stadium to cheer the National team who were seen playing in a practice match with some tough moves.

Nitte University hosted training session for National Basket Ball team since August 15th and team will leave to Teheran (Iran) on September 7th from Mangaluru and FIBA Asian Challenge Cup will kick off from September 8th.

National Team will lock horns against Phillippines on September 9th, followed by Chinese Taipei on September 10. Matches will be similar to be played in round robin league where the team will face off against China, Uzbekistan, Jordan and Iran.

Team is shaping up really well as their fitness and skills are improving day by day. Competetion will be tough to play against China, Uzbekistan etc. This tournament win will not give us berth in Olympics but will definitely improve our ranking in Asia. We are hoping our best to deliver and win at least two matches in round robin league which will fix quarter-final berth, said Chief National Coach Sathyaprakash Yadav.

Nitte University in Karkala with world class facilities is being utilized for training National team for second consecutive year.
