Karkala, Apr 20, 2018: Gopal Bhandary, a former MLA has on April 20, Friday filed his nomination for the Karkala Congress assembly constituency. Here it may be recalled that there is strong opposition to his candidature mainly by Uday Kumar Shetty Muniyalu and his supporters who are very disappointed over the high command decision against granting ticket to their leader.
Speaking to reporters after filing nomination, Bhandary said he was very much pained over the recent developments. He struck a note of optimism that the party leadership would succeed in ending the dissidence. He also exuded confident of a win and said this would be the last election he would be fighting.
Bhandary also made it clear that he has no personal enmity against anyone and said whatever is witnessed as of now is only ideological differences.
Block Congress President Sudhakar Kotian, AICC member, Amrith Shenoy and others were present.
Muniyalu supporters warn party:
Supporters of Uday Kumar Shetty Muniyalu who are hell bent that their leader be given a party ticket have reportedly sadi that their leader would conest as an indpemndent if the party fails to heed to their demand.
Several supporters visited the District Congress Office at Udupi and held discussions with the Congrres District President.
Party leaders have reportedly assured the Muniyalu faction of bringing its grievance to the notice of the high command.
