Kasargod, Sep 08, 2016: Police have arrested Kannur Kootuparamba resident N K Mridul (26) on the charges of threatening and robbing a jeweller from Maharashtra of Rs 2.70 crores.
He has been produced before the court and remanded to police custody for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, an identification parade of the accused has also been held and the jeweller Ganesh is said to have identified the accused.
The incident had taken place on August 7 when Ganesh was heading towards Kannur in his car on the Cherkala-Bevinje Road on the outskirts of Karkala. It is believed that the assailants who were ten in number had waylaid the car and had robbed the jeweller of Rs 2.70 crores.
Sources said even the jeweller’s car driver named Pranesh was involved in the case and is since then missing.
Search is on for him and other accused.
