Mangalore, May 28 :  ‘www.newskarnataka.com. a Kannada news portal was launched in a glittering ceremony at Hotel Ocean Pearl, Mangalore today. Former Chief Minister and Lok Sabha Estimate committee chairman, Fransisco Sardinha along with Yogesh Bhat, Depty. Speaker, Karnataka Legislative Assembly formally launched www.newskarnataka.com by lighting the lamp.

Fransisco Sardinha clicked on to launch the logo of the portal newskarnataka.com.  Speaking on the occasion Sardinha said, "We are living in an era of information. World has shrunk to a global village and information reaches people instantly. The media, including worldwide web plays a pivotal role bringing news and information to the people. However, media highlights negative and provocative news that many a time lead to revulsion among people and community. He quoted Shakespeare - ‘Pen is mightier than sword’ to make the sordid state of media onslaught in recent times. Media should be responsible and sincere at the same time proactive to truth.

Launching ‘newskartaka.com portal, Yogish Bhat  "Media today highlights negative news more than positive which turn provokes people and society. Most of media today has more than 65% of negative news and many serious and important information are either neglected or avoided. It is unfortunate that media is more interested in crime and sordid affairs of political leaders and famous people than projecting people’s needs aspirations”. Media should projects achievements and success stories also, he added.
