Mangaluru, May 08, 2019: Devotees and members of various organisations are offering food items like rice, coconut, vegetables and other items needed  to ‘Kadali Sri Ugrana’ (storeroom), set up on 2,000 sqft area, on account of Brahamakalashotsava of Kadri Manjunatha Temple in the city.

The ‘Ugrana’ is set up on the right side of the entrance to the temple.

‘Horekanike’ offerings are also being made by people from different parts of the district, including Bejai, Batragudde, Yeyyadi and other areas in Mangaluru and surroundings.

A team of 30 volunteers, led by Ugrana In-charge Anand Shetty, have been neatly arranging all the articles offered to the temple by the devotees.  The ‘Ugrana’ has been divided into two parts. Rice, tur dal and other items have been stored in the front while sambar cucumber, jackfruit, tender coconut, pumpkin, Ivy gourd, ‘Gulla’, banana and others are arranged neatly in another corner.

A weighing machine has also been placed at the storeroom. Shetty and volunteers weigh the required articles needed for the kitchen to prepare meals.

A ‘Shivalinga’ has been installed in the middle of the Ugrana. Puja is offered using a ‘Kalasha’ of rice to the Shivalinga daily.

“As we had announced the required articles in the beginning, the devotees have offered the same generously.  In addition, the devotees have also offered vessels for cooking, Asafoetida, jeera and coriander seeds as well,” said volunteers present.
