Kadala Parba attracts huge crowd

Mangalore, Dec 7: The DK Mogaveera Yuva Vedike organized “Kadala Parba,” one of the grandest cultural events of Mangalore with a sea-based theme, on Chitrapura Beach, Kulai, on Dec 6, Sunday. In addition to a number of entertaining sports competitions, the event also included an exhibition of sea food.

The Dharmadikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, inaugurated the event in a traditional manner by making an offering of milk to the sea. He was escorted in a grand procession, which commenced at Chitrapura bus stop and concluded at the venue of Kadala Parba.

 

 

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Heggade said that Tulu culture was disappearing due to the crisis confronting the farm sector.The World Tulu Convention, he said was being organised with the motto of preserving and promoting Tulu culture and traditions.
Stating that the position enjoyed by  paddy cultivation  in Tulunad has been captured by the arecanut and rubber plantations. Likewise the huge ships that engage in deep sea  fishing have affected the country boat fishermen, he said. adding
Participating as a chief guest on the occasion, Krishna J Palemar, the district in-charge minister, said that the people of Tulunad who are known for their unity are also striving  towards protecting the culture and tradition. He also called upon the Mogaveera community to march forth without forgetting their traditional profession.
 

 


 

 


Ajit G Suvarna, President of Mogaveera Management Association, Prof B K Ravindra, Principal, SDM Law College, Madhava Suvarna of the reception committee of Kadala Parbha, Yathish Baikampaday,  Santhosh Kumar Hosabettu,  Yashwanth Meenakaliya, Ganesh Hosabettu, Yogish Kanchan, Karunakar and  Umesh Karkera were among others present on the occasion. 

Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Pramod Madhwaraj, President of Mogaveera Mahajana Sangha, Ucchila, Yashpal Suvarna,  President of Fish Sellers’ Federation, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi participated  as chief guests at the valedictory function held in the  evening.  
The  various sports competitions organized during Kadala Parbha included fishing, boating, swimming and tug-of-war.The entire event was based on the sea and beach theme. All the beach-based sports competitions were clubbed under the title “Kadala Baritha Gobbulu.” A cultural programme based on the life and achievements of the valiant Rani Abbakka, presented by The Team Navras Mangalore, received a huge applause.Myme Ramdas and  Bhaskar Nellitheertha also entertained the gathering.
