Mangaluru July 7, 2016: KSRTC Mangaluru Division will shortly introduce 17 more buses under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM), informed Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim. The Dakshina Kannada Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has decided to issue permits for the 17 applications to run city buses under JnNURM scheme at a review meeting held at DC office.
Speaking to reporters, DC AB Ibrahim said that the routes will be verified and if possible necessary changes will be made in some routes and this service will commence from August.
KSRTC Mangaluru Divisional Controller Vivekanand Hegde said the 17 buses under JnNURM will be launched on August 1st. He also said that, four buses will ply as city tour vehicles which will connect major pilgrimage centre including Kudroli Temple, Mangaladevi Temple, Kadri Temple, Car Street Temple and Milagres Church . Other buses will be introduced from State Bank bus stand to Ira, Shediguri, Krishna Nagar, Akashabhavana, Neermarga, Porkody, Kavoor, Adyappady, Eliyarpadavu, Boliyar, Landlinks, Bajpe and Kumpala, he added.
He also said that, KSRTC Mangaluru Division has already introduced 18 buses under the JnNURM Scheme recently. With the addition of 17 more buses, the KSRTC Mangaluru Division has now 35 buses under the scheme.
