Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, July 22: Addressing reporters at a press conference held on Thursday, KPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza accused the BJP of being involved in the leakage of the Lokayukta’s mining report. Alleging that the BJP knew that it will lose power once the Lokayukta report was published, he said that they got the report leaked in advance so that it would lose significance.

He also said that the Lokayukta had agreed that V. Dhananjay Kumar, the former MP, had pressurized him with regard to the report. Mr. D’Souza said that immediate action should be taken against all those involved in leaking the report, adding that a criminal case should be filed against him.

Speaking about the MCC’s continuous water supply project along the lines of the pilot project in Hubli, Mr. D’Souza said that the project will triple the water bill because it will be handed over to private companies. He also added that this will give more opportunities for corruption. He also warned the MCC that the Congress will organize a massive protest if the MCC continues with its moves to privatize water supply.

Speaking on the occasion, Zudson Bakka, the zonal returning officer of Youth Congress, said that 16,500 people have joined the Youth Congress Mangalore. He said that the scrutiny is going on at present and that details of the new members will be published soon. He urged the members to approach the Lok Sabha Returning Officer (LRO), who will be touring the constituency in case they find any discrepancies in the list.

He also said that members seeking corrections to the voter list must produce the original membership receipt and documentary proof. In Mangalore, the scrutiny will be done daily from 9:00 a.m. at various Block Congress offices. It will be held in Ullal on July 22, Moodubidri on July 23, Bantwal on July 24, Belthangady on July 25, Vitla and Puttur on July 26, Sullia Block Congress Office on July 27.
