Mangaluru, Mar 18,2015 : K N Tailor, Tulu film maker, dramatist, director and actor died in a private hospital in Mangalore on Wednesday March 18. He was 76. He was admitted to Vinaya Nursing Home a few days ago. He was not keeping well for the past few months. He died at 9 am on March 18, 2015.

 

K N Tailor, a pioneer Tulu dramatist, actor and film maker was known as the ‘Bheeshma’ of Tulu film industry.  He has written, produced, acted and directed 9 films besides many Dramas in Tulu.

He founded the Ganesh Nataka Sabha, one of the few Tulu drama troupe in 1958. His popular dramas are: ‘Bombayi Kandane’, ‘Pudar Kenade’, ‘Dr Shankar’, ‘Thammale Aruvattana Kola’, ‘Yer Malthini Thappu’, ‘Shanthi’, ‘Kallda Dever’, ‘Yaan Sanyasi Aape’, ‘Kaasdaye Kandane’, ‘Badayida Bangar’, ‘Kandane Budedi’, ‘Indrana Aasti’, ‘Kaljigada Vishwamitra Menake’, ‘Yerenla Nambodchi’, ‘Dever Korper’, ‘Sainagandala Sathya Panle’, ‘Dasuna Madme’.

K N Tailor also produced 9 movies;  ’’Kaasdaye Kandane’’ ,‘Yer Mathini Thappu’ ‘Daareda Budedi’, ‘Pagetha Pugge’, ‘Bisathi Babu’, ‘Yaan Sanyasi Aape’, ‘Tulunada Siri’, ‘Savirodorthi Savitri’, ‘Bhagyavantedi Tailor’ were his movies.

He was honored with many awards including the Tulu Cinemotsava Awards in January 2015.  He was conferred the Rajyotsava Award in 1994 and Nataka Academy Award in 1989, Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award in 1998, Sandesha Award in 2000 and several other honours. He was bestowed with Lifetime Achievement Awards at the first Tulu Film Awards in November 2014.
