Mangaluru: September 16, 2015: The verbal war between Senior Congress leaders Janardhan Poojary and Veerappa Moily went more critical on Wednesday July 16 with Poojary reacting more strongly to Moily’s Statement “that he was responsible for providing MP ticket to Janardhan Poojary”.
It may be recalled that Veerappa Moily had made a statement saying "some people achieved success in politics because of me and now its woeful that they are raising voice against me on Yettinahole project". In addition to that Moily said it was him who brought Poojary into politics and made him MP.
Reacting strongly to the statement, Poojary held a press meet on Wednesday at district Congress office in Mangaluru and said that Veerappa Moily was his junior in legal profession and as well as in politics.
Poojary questioned that "what power did you have to provide me an MP ticket". He said that it was former prime minister Indira Gandhi who issued him ticket and not Moily.
Poojary pointed out some favours that moily had urged, Poojary said Moily and Bangarappa were made to sit outside Indira Gandhi’s office, while he was discussing portfolio with her.
He further said that ’Moily had urged me to request Mrs Gandhi to make him as an opposition leader. And after a meeting of 45 minutes, he was made as an opposition leader. Did I ever say that I made you the opposition leader? He questioned.
"In reality, when Veerappa Moily held the small industries portpolio in the Gundu Rao cabinet, on his request, it was I who recommented Mrs. Indira Gandhi to make him Finance Minister." Moily should not forget" that said Poojary
Poojary urged both Moily and Union Minister of Law DV Sadananda Gowda to support people of the district and fight against Yettinahole diversion.
