JK Cement Ltd to announce ’Architect of the Year’ today

Mangalore, Nov 26: JK Cement Ltd will be announcing the winners of the 19th ’Architect of the Year Award’ (AYA) instituted by it, at a function to be held at the TMA Pai International Convention Hall in the city on November 27,Friday at 8pm.
The Award has been instituted to encourage architects and civil engineers from all over India,” informed Sanat Kumar Shetty,professional advisor for the 19th AYA.


Addressing a press meet in the city on November 26, he said  the award has become a benchmark for architects not only in India, but also in its neighboring countries. The jury determines the recipient of this award solely on the basis of merit. The identities of the 191 applicants for the award will not be revealed to the jury; instead, these applicants will be given code numbers, which will be displayed during the evaluation process, he informed. 

M P Rawal,Chairman (Technical and Administration),JK Cement, said  India which is rich in natural building materials produces 175 million tons of cement every year, a fact, which he said, was shaping the future India.

Krishna Rao Jaisim, an eminent architect of Bangalore and a member of the jury, will announce the winner of the 19th AYA and give details of the winning project at the Winner Declaration Ceremony to be held on November 27.
The awards will be displayed at the venue for the benefit of the architects and the guests at 7 p.m. The trophy “Vijay Stambh” is a replica of one of the historical monuments of Rajasthan.
