Mangalore, 19 April 2015: Udupi district Janata Dal (Secular) president Deviprasad Shetty who had recently hit headlines by tendering resignation to his presidentship on Sunday, April 19 joined Congress party in Kaup and Udupi district incharge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake welcomed him into the party.
Addressing the reporters at Kaup Block Congress office here Shetty stated that owing to internal clashes and various reasons he had to resign from his position and quit the party which he had served for more than 15 years.
“I have joined the party keeping in mind the morals and core values of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). I abide by their policies and promise to serve my best during my tenure as a Congress member,” he added.
Welcoming the new leader to the party, Udupi District in-charge Minister and Congress leader Vinay Kumar Sorake stated that the party is happy to have such a member who has dedicated himself for the development of the place Belapu where he hails from.
“We will hold a discussion with the high command with regards to providing a designation to Shetty. Until then Shetty will assist all of us in the developmental works of the party,” he added.
It can be recalled that Deviprasad Shetty had resigned from his post on Thursday, April 16 by tendering his resignation to party supremo H D Deve Gowda.
