Mangalore, July 9, 2011: The DK district unit of the JD (S) staged a silent protest in front of the DC’s office on July 9 Saturday in support of the indefinite fast undertaken by H. D. Kumaraswamy, the JD (S) leader and former chief minister of Karnataka. The protest, which commenced at 10:00 a.m., will continue till 5:00 p.m.

The JD(S) has issued a press release in which it has stated that Kumaraswamy has taken the right decision in demanding a CBI probe into the ruling BJP’s allegations that his family has amassed illegal wealth worth Rs. 1500 crore.

Last month, the BJP issued a charge sheet in which it accused the Kumaraswamy family of owing illegal assets worth Rs. 1500 crore. The JD (S) declared that it will emerge from this trial unscathed.

The JD (S) has also stated that Kumarawamy has provided documentary evidences against the CM and his family members, proving that the CM is indeed guilty of nepotism and denotifying land in favor of his family members. They stated that the CM is afraid of demanding a CBI probe into the allegations made against him because he knows that he will have to face charges of corruption.

Amarnath Shetty, the former MLA; Sadashiv M. B., the district general secretary; M. G. Hegde; Ram Ganesh; Aslam, the minority president of JD (S); Mohammed Kunni; Azeez Kudroli; Shashiraj Shetty; Susheel Noronha; Dhanraj; Gopalkrishna Attavar; and many others participated in this protest.
