JD(S) candidate Panchaksharayya to contest state legislative council elections

Mangalore, May 5, 2012 : Janatha Dal (Secular) has announced C. M. Panchaksharayya as its candidate for the Karnataka State Legislative Council elections held in June.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference held in Mangalore on Saturday, Mr. Panchaksharayya said that he has been selected from the South West teachers’ constituency.

Further, he said that he has served as the secretary of the Padavedharara Sahakara Sangha in Shimoga, an organization focusing on teacher welfare, for 30 years. He said that he is aware of the various problems and challenges faced by school and college teachers and intends to represent them in the state legislative council.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, JD(S) State Secretary M. G. Hegde said that Captain Ganesh Karnik, who was elected as the MLC from the teachers’ constituency, has achieved nothing. Instead, he busied himself with NRI activities and did not formulate a single teachers’ welfare or education welfare program.

The teachers’ constituency comprises associate teachers, physical education teachers, PU teachers, and college teachers.


DK Minorities Unit President D. M. Aslam, JD(S) District Chief Secretary Shashiraj Shetty, former ZP member Hakam Azeez Malhar, JD(S) Youth leader Hakam, and many others were present.
