JCI Mangalore confers awards in recognition of service and achievements

Mangalore, Sep 17: JCI Mangalore, as a part of Jaycee Week 2010, conferred  the JC Outstanding Young Person Award 2010 on persons from different occupations on Wednesday at Hotel Nalapad Residency. The recipients are Mr. Srinivas Nayak (media), Dr Manjunath Rai (medicine), Mr. Basthi Sadashiva Shenoy (sculpture), Mr. Girish Kumar (fine arts) and Mr. Basheer Chokkabettu (social service).

For the first time, JCI Mangalore conferred Salute to Silent Workers Award for persons who have dedicated their entire career for the service of society without gaining any recognition. The recipients are Mr. Kishor Kumar, who has been working as a fireman from last 30 years; Mr. Gangadhar, an ambulance operator who is providing free service to beggars and poor people; Mr. Janardhan Babu Bangera, who worked in Mumbai hotels for 28 years and is now rendering his service in AJ Hospital as a ward boy; and Sr. Marie Dulcine, teacher in St Agnes Special School from last 35 years.
 
JC Jagadish Bangera, the president of JCI Mangalore, was awarded the Kamala Patra in business and social service. Mr. G. G. Mohandas Prabhu,  the president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) was the chief guest of the programme.
 
Elocution Competition

JCI Mangalore, as a part of Jaycee Week 2010, conducted an elocution competition on the topic ‘Social Responsibilities’ for high school Students on Wednesday at Hotel Nalapad Residency.

In the English category, Jagath.T of St Aloysius High School won the first prize and Swathi Nayak of Chinmaya High School won the second place. In the Kannada category, Madhura of Chinmaya High School won the first place and Steffi Helen D’Souza of St Aloysius High School won the second place.
