Mangaluru, June 4, 2016 : Eligible people from the minority community can avail benefits from the grants provided by the government for the Minority Development and Christian Development Parishad by applying for Arivu, Shrama Shakti, Swavalambana, Kirusala and Ganga Kalyana schemes before June 30, informed Ivan D’Souza, MLC and Member of Karnataka State Minority Commission.
Speaking to media men at his office here on June 3, Friday, he said the government has sanctioned a grant of Rs 12,000 crores and Rs 125 crores respectively to the State Minorities Department and the Christian Development Parishad. He also stated that students of minority community belonging to economically backward families can apply for scholarships for pursuing professional courses.
He further informed that in order to create awareness about government schemes, programmes will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, Belthangady and Kirem Church Hall on June 5 and 19 respectively.
He also stated that a total of 73,335 beneficiaries have been provided Rs 1,730 lakhs under various schemes during 2015-16.
