It’s raining sardines on Ullal coast

Mangaluru, Nov 23, 2017: It has been raining sardines at Ullal seashore since the past three days with people merrily taking bags full of sardines  home to prepare their favourite fish  curry or fish fries.

 

Since the past three days one happens to see heaps  of sardines getting washed ashore at Ullal and also at Kaiko, Kilirianagar, Mogaveerapatna and Someshwar.

For the first time shoal of live sardines was  noticed on November 19, morning. On Wednesday too the phenomenon has recurred much to the delight of locals.People have started coming from far off places too  with bags in hands to take the fish home.

A similar incident of shoals of sardines getting washed ashore was reported five years ago. Locals feel fish that escape from the  fishermen’s net  rush towards the shore.
