Mangaluru, Sep 20,2017: State Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy who addressed a meeting of senior police officers here on September 20, Wednesday has issued clear instructions to the police to invoke Goonda Act against those disrupting peace in the society.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Reddy said he has also instructed the police to initiate action against those collecting hefty interest on the pretext of meter interest, locally known as Meter Baddi.
The Home Minister has also issued orders to increase night patrolling, apart from measures to ensure safety of women including those working in software companies.
The Minister further made it clear that the SI of the respective police stations would be held responsible for any law and order problem in his respective jurisdiction.
While asking the cops to be stern with criminals, he has also asked them to be friendly with the common man. The Minister has also issued strict instructions to check illegal games and prostitution.
He further assured of steps to cheek illegal supply of drugs to the prisons in the state.
On the suspicious death of Kavya, the minister said the investigation is in final stages and the report would be submitted soon.
He also said charge sheet would be filed in the case wherein MP Nalin Kumar Kateel allegedly pulled up a police officer.
ADGP Alok Mohan, IGP (Western Range) Hemanth Nimbalkar, Police Commissioner T R Suresh, SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy and DCP (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya were present.
