Mangaluru, June 19,2017: The bride, Rebecca Maria Opitz, from Frankfurt in Germany and Bharat Kumar Karkera from Hejamady were in love since two years. Bharat, son of Sharada and Karunakar Karkera, has been working for a German shipping company for some time now. Rebecca, a postgraduate, has been employed as an art gallery executive.
The German bride Rebecca Maria Opitz was amazed to experience the meaningful wedding rituals to marry her lover Bharath Kumar Karkera from Udupi as per the Hindu tradition.
Rebecca has lost her parents. Around 11 members from her family attended the wedding which took place in Shamili restaurant. Rebecca who was dressed as an Indian bride enthusiastically followed the Hindu wedding rituals. The rituals were performed by a team of priests headed by the main priest, Hejamady Haridas Bhat. The muhurtham was at 12.20 am. From the bride’s family, the rituals were performed by Rebecca’s sister Lena and brother-in-law Bernard.
Traditional food was served on plantain leaves. The men were dressed in kurtas, while the women wore saris and also flowers in their hair.
