Indian Coast Guard demonstrates deep sea activities on 34th anniversary

Mangalore, Feb 26, 2011: The Indian Coast Guard presented a breathtaking demonstration in the deep sea, about 16 nautical miles or 30kms from land. A number of deep-sea activities were organized by the Indian Coast Guard in commemoration of its 34th anniversary on Feb 26, Saturday.

Indian Coast Guard ships Savithri Bhai Phule, Sangram, and others participated in the demonstration while the Indian fleet helicopter Chetak demonstrated a search and rescue operation. Other activities included light machine gun firing, pistol firing, overtaking ships, and heavy machine gun firing. 


P. S. Jha, the commandant of Coast Guard Karnataka, and many other senior Coast Guard officers, along with DC Subodh Yadav, Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, and SP Subramanyeshwar Rao were also present.  

More than 100 government personnel, family members of Coast Guard officers, and reporters witnessed the splendid demonstration.
