Inauguration of ’Counselling Centre’ at Aloysius Institutions

Mangaluru, September 2, 2016: St Aloysius College Institutions, Mangaluru has started a counselling centre called ’The Listening Centre’ for the benefit of the students and public of Mangalore on September 1, Thursday.

 

Rev. Fr. Walter Andrade, former Finance Administrator of St. Aloysius College, inaugurated the centre.

St. Aloysius Institutions’ Rector Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vas, who is also the director of the centre, emphasised the significance of the centre towards the progress of children in their natural capabilities as well as their need for emotional, intellectual and spiritual space.


Shalini Aiyappa, Head of the Department of Psychology and Research Centre, who played a key role in setting up the centre, said that the centre embraced diversity and it is also a centre for learning for children with learning disabilities and academic issues.  The Rector of St Aloysius College Institutions, Rev Fr Dionysius Vas, SJ, is the Director of this Centre.  Dr Shalini Aiyappa, Head of the Department of Psychology is the Co-ordinator.


Those who were present on the stage included Rev. Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, the Principal of   St. Aloysius College; Ms. Grace Noronha, the Principal of St. Aloysius Gonzaga School; Rev. Fr Walter Andrade SJ and Mr. Gopalakrishnan, the Headmaster of St. Aloysius High School. The Listening Centre thus seeks to form men and women for others.
