In Year of Mercy nearly 400 devotees walk to Mudipu from Bendore

Mangaluru, Mar 08 2016: As many as 400 devotees who had gathered at the St Sebastian Church at Bendore early morning on March 7, Monday, commenced a 22 km long journey by foot to the St Joseph Vas Shrine at Mudipu to gain Indulgence in the Year of Mercy.

The St Joseph Shrine is one of the 12 places in Mangaluru Diocese which have been declared as pilgrim places by the Bishop of Mangaluru.

Once the devotees reached the Mudipu Shrine, Fr Antony Serrao, Parish Priest of Bendore, addressed the gathering and said the main intention of this journey was to help devotees seek the forgiveness from the Lord. He also hoped that all the faithful would receive the mercy of the Lord.

Meanwhile, devotees who could not walk the entire distance were allowed to reach Mudipu by buses.
