Mangaluru, Sep 14, 2016: As per reports, a student of Alva’s College, Moodbidri, drowned in Panambur beach on Sept 13, Tuesday. Ignoring warnings from lifeguards of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project, a group of six friends ventured into the sea, only to be sucked in by strong currents. Timely action by lifeguards prevented all of them from drowning.
Praful had come to the beach at 2.30pm with his friends - Rathan, Prem, Rakesh, Deelaksha and Bharath - from Sakleshpur in Hassan dt. Ironically, it was Praful who kept warning his friends to stay away from the water, but he slipped and drowned.
Akash Kadur of Chikkamagalur was the last person to drown at the beach on April 7, 2013. He was part of a group who had come to the city to write AIEEE exam.
Lifeguards rescue fisherman : Lifeguards with the Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project saved fisherman Chethan Uchil, 46, from drowning after his boat capsized off Someshwar beach on Sept 12,Monday. The lifeguards who spotted Chethan flailing around, rescued him.
