Speaking after accepting ‘Outstanding Manager Award,’ instituted by Mangaluru Management Association on Oct 14, Sunday.

“Supporting the good in each other is absent, only business mindsets prevail. Such mindset needs to be changed. Accordingly, I have been visiting colleges to deliver lecture on humanitarian values. In this materialistic world, humanism is fast eroding,” Hegde said.

The former lokayuka went on to say,  that he has visited 1,022 schools and colleges and tried to bring awareness in the mindset of the students. Society is bogged down in corruption.  Corruption cases in law courts are  common, but no heed is paid to it. All  should oppose bribe and corruption.

Stating that the quantum of punishment for corrupt is negligible. In such a scenario what is the message sent out?  If stringent punishment is imposed for corrupt, then people will be scared and think twice.

Lokayukta Justice P Vishwanath Shetty stressed the need for a people’s movement against corruption and to bring in changes in the society.  The country needs skilled and committed people. The youth should raise their voice against corruption and strive for truth, honesty and integrity.
